Alzheimer Europe is the umbrella organisation of 37 national Alzheimer's associations from 33 European countries. Our mission is to change perceptions, policy and practice in order to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. We are a non-profit non-governmental organisation (NGO) and will achieve our mission by providing a voice to people with dementia and their carers, making dementia a European priority, changing perceptions and combating stigma, raising awareness of brain health and prevention, strengthening the European dementia movement and supporting dementia research.

Founded in 1981, the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) supports its members in advancing the science and practice of surgical oncology for the benefit of cancer patients, to be achieved through a range of activities related to education, research, advocacy, and leadership in multidisciplinary care.

Today, ESSO has more than 4000 members in Europe and beyond, influencing the visibility of surgical oncology in Europe with its global network of surgical professionals and organizations.

ESSO develops standards of care for cancer patients through its core values, as well as its activities in the field of education, homogenisation of skills, quality healthcare and ultimately qualification. ESSO's annual congress is the biggest congress in surgical oncology in Europe, offering an effective platform for surgeons to discuss the latest topics and future trends within the surgical oncology community.

ESSO supports continued professional development by facilitating the education of both young and experienced surgical oncologists through the organisation of interactive courses, webinars, training fellowships, exams and workshops on specific tumour types and surgical techniques around Europe. 

ESSO generates research project ideas that are prospective, high-quality and feasible and then collaborates with clinical research operators for their implementation. Through its monthly scientific Journal, the Journal of Cancer Surgery (EJSO), ESSO aims to educate and inform about the many subspecialty disciplines of cancer surgery.

ESSO is dedicated to strengthening relationships with national surgical oncology societies, European organisations active in the field of cancer, and patient advocate groups, using social, economic, and legislative instruments to promote optimal surgical cancer care to cancer patients. ESSO’s surgical trainee members are also supported by ESSO’s Young Surgeon and Alumni Club (EYSAC) which forward the next generation of surgical oncologists. ESSO is committed to raising the profile and setting the highest standards of cancer surgery, to enhance and improve comprehensively the quality of cancer care. ESSO influences both cancer service developments working within nations and across Europe and healthcare policy priorities. 

Close the Gap is an international social enterprise that aims to bridge the digital divide by offering high-quality, pre-owned IT devices (laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablets, servers, …) donated by large and medium-sized corporations or public organisations to educational, medical, entrepreneurial and social projects in developing and emerging countries. All these projects are demand-driven and impact-driven oriented initiatives. Since 2004, Close the Gap has gathered over 1.135.000 ICT devices, has contributed to over 7.600 projects in more than 50 countries around the world (mostly in Africa) and reached more than 3.970.000 beneficiaries.

Close the Gap, together with its Kenyan partner since 2019 – Close the Gap Kenya - also powers various other initiatives to bridge the digital divide. Through the Worldloop programme, Close the Gap makes sure that the donated IT devices are disposed of in an environmentally responsible way when they reach the end of their second life. Through the BOOST programme, formerly known as Leap 2, Close the Gap (Kenya) supports local entrepreneurship and innovation by organising innovation challenges in emerging and developing countries, where young entrepreneurs can develop their innovative ideas to provide digital solutions for societal issues. Close the Gap also powers the Digitruck Programme, a mobile IT classroom that enables all communities to have access to IT. Since the start of the programme in 2015, 9 Digitrucks have been launched across Africa and Europe. All these initiatives contribute to creating impact in emerging and developing countries around the world.

SAFE – Safe Food Advocacy Europe was created with the aim of ensuring that consumer’s health and concerns remain at the core of the EU’s food legislation. SAFE is currently the only Brussels-based NGO specialised in the protection and representation of EU consumers in the food sector. 

SAFE strives to ensure safer food standards for consumers by monitoring the EU food legislation process and cooperating with EU stakeholders to draft comprehensive food regulations.  SAFE notably supports the development of policies and awareness-raising actions which jointly address health, environment, food safety and sustainability, all-the-while being involved in several EU-funded projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the food sector, increasing sustainability and promoting healthier food environments for consumers. 

Missions

Strengthening the voice of civil society in the EU debate over food regulation, thereby reinforcing participatory democracy in the EU.

Protecting consumers by advocating for better regulation in food and health policy, by advocating for safer food standards, sounder food production methods and more fit-for-purpose food donation rules.

Increasing public awareness of food safety issues, by organising training activities allowing citizens to make informed consumption choices (e.g. children-destined workshops on sugar overconsumption and food labelling) or by striving to improve the transparency of information available on food products. 

Helping fight climate change and protect the environment by raising awareness on the interconnection that exists between food and the environment and promoting sustainable consumption habits and agricultural practices.

SIRIUS is the international leading Policy Network on Migrant Education: the EU’s privileged adviser on these topics since 2012 and an independent network (International not for profit association) since 2017 including all major education stakeholders.

SIRIUS is a membership-based organisation that promotes the social inclusion of children and young people with migrant background by fostering their effective access to the universal right to education. SIRIUS encourages inclusive policymaking so that governments, authorities, schools and communities take action to promote and implement policies and measures aimed at reinforcing equity and social justice in education, improving educational opportunities, promoting social inclusion and fighting against discrimination.

We particularly strive for:

-The universal right to education for all without discrimination;
-Increased high quality public education services for learners with a migrant background;
-Better school integration and school transitions for learners with a migrant background;
-The reduction of segregation and early school leaving;
-The development of curricula that are respectful as regards to cultural, linguistic and religious diversity. 

EHTEL (the European Health Telematics Association) is a unique pan-European multidisciplinary stakeholder organisation, which brings together corporate, institutional, and individual actors dedicated to the improvement of healthcare delivery through digital health.

EHTEL’s distinctive structure enables the exchange of ideas and information leading to innovation in the delivery of eHealth solutions and the transformation of health and social care. EHTEL facilitates interactions and sharing of knowledge among stakeholder groups. The association acts as a neutral forum, not as a lobbying group.

EHTEL’s growing membership includes more than 50 organisations from all relevant stakeholder groups. The multitude of interests and viewpoints of its members enables EHTEL to take a holistic approach on the implementation of eHealth solutions. 

EHTEL provides a complete picture of the benefits and challenges of the deployment of ICT in the fields of health and social care. It identifies opportunities and topics for its members that require attention and further development at European level.

EHTEL engages in collaborations with European associations representing hospitals, health insurers, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, patients and citizens, as well as with professional associations dedicated to the quality and certification of care processes and eHealth services.

EHTEL has been much motivated by the impact and implications of the COVID-19 pandemic to work with its members to find positive solutions to its threats and challenges.
